The 2004 Housing Act that has just become law requires that any letting property with five or more sharers must have a wash-basin or sink in every bedroom, and in other larger areas if capable of use as a bedroom. No easy task if providing them means a long run to the drain or soil pipe or where, for example, bedrooms have been provided in lofts or basements. Fortunately SANISHOWER from the versatile range of Saniflo pumping products offers a neat and effective answer.
Sanishower is a small but powerful pump designed to take waste water from a wash basin, sink or shower unit and pump it quickly and quietly away through small bore 22mm pipe work to a distant drain or soil stack. It is especially useful where a shower or wash basin is to be sited in a place where gravity drainage will be difficult or impossible to run - for example in a basement or on an internal wall of a property.
A small, unobtrusive product, Sanishower can be concealed behind a demountable panel. It has two entry points with non-return valves for shower and wash basin and functions automatically when water enters it, discharging waste water through 22 mm pipes up to 4 m vertically or up to 40 m horizontally. Easy and economical to install, Sanishower is backed by the Saniflo Two Year Guarantee of Quality.
Sanishower is just one of a range of macerators and pumps offered by Saniflo to solve plumbing problems. There is a range of products enabling the addition of extra facilities – anything from an additional WC to a complete bath or shower room – almost anywhere in a building. The principle of using a macerator pumping unit which operates automatically when the toilet is flushed to pump waste and water away upwards or horizontally to a distant soil pipe was pioneered by Saniflo who occupy a leading position in the market with the only range of BBA approved products using 22 mm discharge pipework.
The Saniflo range of small-bore systems was specifically designed for the UK market. With BBA approval (and - where needed- type approval which has also been granted uniquely to Saniflo), they are guaranteed suitable for all types of extension and refurbishment work. They have been particularly helpful in converting unused space, in extensions or loft conversions to give extra bathroom or kitchen facilities. Equally important, Saniflo small bore sanitary systems provide these extra facilities quickly, easily and at a fraction of the cost of conventional plumbing where normal gravity drainage can"t provide a solution. The four key Saniflo units are: Saniflo for an extra WC, Sanitop for a WC and washbasin even in a basement, Sanipro for an en-suite shower room and Saniplus for a complete shower room or bathroom almost anywhere.
The principle of "plumb it in where you want it rather than where the soil pipe dictates" has been extended from bathroom and other sanitary applications to kitchens and utility rooms. The pumping problems in these applications are, of course, different. In a bathroom, the wastewater is generally of low temperature - even from a bath or shower - and drains into the unit by gravity flow. In a kitchen, appliances such as dishwashers and washing machines pump out soap rich water at high temperature. The pump unit required to deal with such waste is quite different to the pump needed for a bathroom application. It has to be capable of dealing with pumped high temperature water but it does not need to have a macerator to deal with waste. Sanivite was specifically designed for this application and with four inlets, it allows waste from a washing machine, dishwasher and sink to be pumped away via a single low cost unit
Where facilities are used by a large number of visitors or guests, Saniflo recommend the use of units from their Professional Range. The Professional Range is designed specifically to withstand the demands of commercial environments. The trio of products extends the benefits o
