Sanicubic 2 VX provides solution for Argo Lounge

The latest in a series of 'Lounges' to be launched across the UK has opened in Peterborough with a little help from Saniflo.

'The Lounges' - a concept founded by a trio of friends back in 2002 - are quirky and slightly eccentric café/bars that are open all day every day where families, friends, and locals can visit for a coffee, a drink, or something to eat in a relaxed comfortable environment. The interiors are informal and inviting and feature sofas, chairs and coffee tables for those who want to chill, read the papers or a book. Or customers can opt to use the contemporary dining facilities.

BGS Gas Services is the preferred supplier for all the plumbing and electrics at each outlet - which total 50 in number following a recent series of openings. The Lounge Team refurbishes and renovates old buildings which, in many cases, means that they cannot rely on traditional drainage systems for waste. The company turns to Saniflo for pumping solutions in these instances.

The front bar in the new Argo Lounge Peterborough has a Sanicom 1 pump that sits under the sink and takes the waste water from 2 glass cleaning machines, pumping it under the floor to the mains drains pipes at the back of the bar. A Sanicom 2 is installed in the basement in a cupboard adjacent to the kitchen. This takes catering waste water that is pumped via a grease filter in to the Sanicom and routed up to the mains drains above. The basement level also features the ladies and gents toilets. A Sanicubic 2 VX - one of the first to be installed in the UK - has been selected to discharge waste from 5 toilets, 5 basins and 3 urinals. The unit has been installed in a pre-existing cupboard at the back of the gents' toilets. A 4-inch soil stack is connected to the Sanicubic 2 VX which, through its innovative vortex system, pumps waste upwards through a plant room and into the mains drains.

Jeff Bateman is MD of BGS Waste Services;

“We are a long term user of Saniflo systems. They enable us to provide the solutions to ensure new Lounge projects can go ahead even when we can't use mains drains. I often have to rely on Saniflo because of the age and layout of the buildings; in the majority of bars there is a Sanicom and we've been a big user of Sanicubic lifting stations. However, for the latest project I specified the VX as there should be less maintenance due to the vortex technology. With no macerator function in these units we should be less affected by problems arising from customers putting the wrong things down the loo!”
